FLEXIBLE LIVING

Research

I have conducted various case studies on crisis housing in Norway and Australia, which has proven to be an invaluable tool in the design process. Case studies provide valuable insights into how these housing solutions work in practice, the challenges residents face, and what works well in existing designs. By comparing crisis housing across different countries, I can identify both similarities and differences, using this information to develop more tailored and effective design solutions. Case studies help uncover real needs and potential areas for improvement, making them essential for creating living environments that uphold the dignity and functional needs of the residents

Concept development

I developed two quite different concepts for the client, which can be a positive approach as it offers flexibility and showcases alternative ways to achieve the project goals. By presenting different concepts, we can find the one that best resonates with both the client’s needs and vision. The concepts were based on some of the weaknesses I identified in the report, and instead of viewing them as challenges, I chose to turn them into opportunities to create even better solutions. This ensures that the design not only addresses the weaknesses but also leverages them to add more value for both the client and the local community.
