Social Housing
Originally built as quarantine facilities during COVID, I have now transformed these spaces into permanent social housing. Although they initially lacked functionality and personal touches, I have created homes that adapt to individual needs. By incorporating multifunctional, space-saving furniture and flexible zones, I ensure that every square meter is used efficiently, making the rooms feel both practical and personalized. With a warm color palette and smart storage solutions, I create a cozy and inviting atmosphere where residents can truly feel at home.
In these modular homes, designed for one person and covering 20 square meters, I have completely restructured the floor plan, focusing on solutions that promote flexibility and ease of use. By defining clear zones that can be adjusted according to the situation and time of day, incorporating sustainable materials, and adding personal touches, these homes are transformed into spaces that balance functionality with the emotional needs of the residents. These homes are intended to preserve the dignity of the occupants, providing them with a sense of belonging and security, despite the limited space.
From a community perspective, this redesign helps reduce the stigma often associated with social housing. Functional, welcoming, and dignified homes promote social integration and cohesion. Better use of space and flexible layouts encourage both private and social interactions, strengthening community bonds. The design fosters a safe and inclusive atmosphere, improves the quality of life for residents, and simultaneously contributes to a more sustainable and resilient society.
As an interior designer at KDesign Stavanger, I’m dedicated to creating timeless, harmonious spaces that reflect each client's unique personality and lifestyle.
